To live in the heart of Cheshire’s golden triangle in a fabulous family home surrounded by nature really is a dream come true for Daisy and Callum Walsh, their five-year-old daughter Violet and cute dog Otis.
It was a goal the couple only dreamed of when they started out together, but an incredible partnership and strong work ethic have been the foundations of their success and helped contribute to them achieving their aspiration for their family at a relatively young age.
Originally from south Manchester, Daisy and Callum first moved to Northwich when their daughter was born but soon realised that it was a little too far away from family and friends. The desire to cut down their commuting and be closer to ‘home’ inspired them to look for something else and they were immediately excited when they discovered Bellway’s beautiful Heatherley Wood development on Instagram.
“We were really impressed with the images of the development on the advert,” said Daisy, “The houses were striking; modern yet very traditional and we hadn’t seen anything like it. We immediately went to the development to view the Mayfield show home and completely fell in love with it. The layout was perfect for us offering so much flexible family space over three storeys so we took the plunge and reserved our own just a couple of weeks later.”
A bespoke development of high end four, five and six bedroom homes, Heatherley Wood offers elevated levels of modern luxury living within 400 acres of stunning parkland and woodland close to the desirable Cheshire village of Alderley Edge.
Setting new standards for country living, the development sits within Alderley Park which boasts access to nature along with its own gastro pub and on-site gym. Less than three miles from Alderley Edge, it is close to Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Knutsford and is well located for Manchester Airport and commuting to Manchester city centre.
The whole family is delighted with their new home and love spending time together there or entertaining family and friends.
“We spend most of our time in the large kitchen dining room and family area. The log burner in the dining area keeps the space cosy and warm and on sunny days we open up the bi-fold doors onto the garden and forest behind. With having the dog and also a little one, it’s a great space for us and I love to sit and relax there with a coffee just listening to the sound of the birds.
“We also have a log burner in the formal lounge and we love snuggling up in there during the colder months to watch TV or a film, but for me, my favourite part of the house is the window on the landing, it’s a beautiful feature inside and out and we’ve fitted a large six tier drop chandelier which glistens in the sunlight.
“Our master bedroom suite is an amazing space with a super walk-in wardrobe and large en suite and our daughter Violet has taken over the whole of the top floor which we’ve transformed into a bedroom, playroom and TV space for her and her friends when they come round.”
Having lived in a smaller new build home previously, the couple are really pleased with the layout of the development and feeling of space at Heatherley Wood and are also making good use of the superb facilities at Alderley Park including the gastro pub, gym and wider woodland and green space.
“Unlike many new build estates, Heatherley Wood has the luxury of space as there are only a handful of houses on our street and lots of attractive natural landscaping and greenery,” said Daisy, “The whole development has a really friendly vibe, we know all of our neighbours and have become a relatively close community in a short space of time.
“The gastro pub up the road is fantastic,” said Daisy, “A little too fantastic to be honest as we walk up there a few nights a week to eat as the dog can come too. The food is lovely, especially the Sunday roasts and the passion fruit gin, we have spent many a sunny day in the beer garden and also in front of the huge fire that they light in winter.
“There is a fully equipped, modern gym just over the road which offers discount for the Heatherley Wood community and although we have converted our garage into a gym we are considering joining. When the weather is nice I try to get out on my bike and go around the park and up and down the cycle path on Melrose Way – got to find a way to burn off those gins!
“But one of our favourite things to do is just to go for a walk around the parkland, either through the forest with the dog which he loves (and needs a good bath afterwards) or around the water gardens which are so pretty and relaxing. I really feel so lucky to have all of this on my doorstep.”
