Automated Laboratory Network launched

December 2017 saw the launch of the Automated Laboratory Network (ALN). The network is comprised of four companies with over 100 years combined automation and analysis experience. The project includes two Alderley Park based companies - Pharmalytical Services and Automated Technologies. It is also joined by Staffordshire based R Northwood Consultancy and Cheshire based Turtonation.

ALN was established so that all laboratories, big or small, can have access to automation and analysis expertise without the need for expanding permanent headcount. The team includes experts in analysis (HPLC, LC-Mass Spec, NMR, Solubility and Dissolution), lab automation, lab instrumentation, LIMS, engineering, IT and infrastructure.

From the groups’ experiences within pharmaceutical organisations they could see that manufacturers were building great instruments, however there was a gap in the market for the combined automation and analysis expertise on how to embed these technologies into organisations and generate the required quality of data efficiently; and deliver projects in a timely manner. By bringing their collective engineering, automation and analytical expertise together the consortium realised that via the ALN, they could add considerable value to new starters and established users of automation in pharmaceutical R&D and CRO's.

Founder and Director of Pharmalytical and ALN collaborator, Gorkhn Sharma-Singh stated “The ALN is dedicated to helping organisations introduce and improve their laboratory automation and analysis capability. From designing bespoke improvements to your automation systems to improving the efficiency of your current technology platforms.”

Going forward, the network are planning to work collaboratively with clients, providing consultancy, training and expertise in laboratory automation and analysis. The ALN can help embed technology solutions to deliver fit-for-purpose high quality data that will add value to Pharmaceutical organisations and CRO’s.
