Adapting during crisis

Whilst we’re continuing to work through a time of difficulty and uncertainty, we’re seeing more and more UK businesses reacting positively to the crisis by supporting the development of new services, technology, testing, diagnostics and increased user bases.

At the end of March, the UK Government announced the establishment of three large scale national COVID-19 testing laboratories across the UK, now known as ‘Lighthouse labs’. These have been established at Bruntwood SciTech’s Alderley Park in Cheshire and in Milton Keynes and Glasgow. Medicines Discovery Catapult is part of this national effort, co-ordinating the establishment of these new hub laboratories.

We invite you to join us for the second session of a brand new series of virtual events; Bruntwood SciTech customer showcase: ‘Adapting during Crisis’. On Tuesday 21st April at 4pm; we’ll be hearing live from Chris Molloy, founding CEO of Medicines Discovery Catapult and Dr Kath Mackay, Managing Director of Alderley Park.

In 2016 Chris became the founding CEO of Medicines Discovery Catapult - the national research technology facility supporting the sector by industrialising and driving the adoption of new R&D techniques for discovering medicines. Chris Molloy has a 30-year international board and executive career across a unique range of life sciences research and development disciplines. Previously working for the likes of Glaxo, MerLion Pharmaceuticals, IDBS and RSA Group.

During this live interactive session, Chris will provide an overview of the labs at Alderley Park and the fantastic work Medicines Discovery Catapult are carrying out in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Dr Kath Mackay joined Bruntwood SciTech in October 2019 as Managing Director of Alderley Park. With an already thriving ecosystem of over 200 companies and 2000 innovators, Dr Kath will touch on the process of how Alderley Park was selected to be part of the national testing effort and discuss how the lab has been created at unprecedented pace.

Alongside this, there will be an opportunity to pose your questions to both speakers during the session. This online series of webinars hope to provide live and engaging facilitated discussion, with the aim to inspire, share advice and provide tips and tools.

Due to high demand; it may be that the webinar is full when you try to enter, if this is the case please don't worry as you can watch the session live stream here.
